Etchingham Sports and Social Club

Thank you letting myself and countless others stay over night, when we got stuck due to the recent weather. Fantastic community and fantastic human beings.

The people of this social club are genuinely some of the best human beings around. Last night, myself and many others were stranded in Etchingham as our cars were suddenly snowed in and the through road had become blocked and undrivable. A family that live opposite the club (the lovely Alice was the only name I caught, but her wonderful parents and brother too) opened up the bar and invited all the stranded drivers into the warm, they worked hard to feed and water us all and give us updates on the plough situation. Some patrons even helped me push my car up an icy hill to get us going again once the plough had passed through. These people have my full gratitude and respect and I hope to pass through again one day and buy them all a drink.

Thankyou so much to the families and staff who opened up and gave food, drink, bedding and shelter for the night to about 30 of us in stranded cars. You are all amazing x
