Absolute disgrace of a firm. Drew up the will of my late sister in law (and obviously billed her for that service). When we informed them of her death and provided a death certificate they refused to share a copy of the will until we provided proof of our ID. That was done and we received a copy of the will by post. At no time was there any mention of charging or fees for this. Weve now advised Mason, Baggott & Garton that we dont wish to use their services to execute the will and have received a bill for 180 for the work theyve done to date. That covers nothing more than the receipt of the death certificate and our proof of ID and the posting of the will to us. I would politely suggest this has been no more effort than the printing of a standard letter and a couple of second class stamps. Clearly where theres an estate involved they feel they can take advantage. Appalling example of everything thats wrong with the legal system. Get a breakdown of their charges before you even consider engaging with this firm - theyll probably want to charge you for that too though!
