Durham Crematorium

Lovely service for my grandma

Why do you only get half an hr in the crematorium for a funeral in Durham when you get 45 minutes at mounsett in Dipton. Had a funeral today and we were rushed away as another funeral was waiting . Really spoiled the experience for me. Also visual tribute didnt work . The music played to reflect on photos but no photos on screen. I had to alert someone to the fact no photos were showing . When they finally managed to get the photos on ,we watched in silence and then they didnt show them all . Obviously as we had to be out for next funeral . Very very very upset and disappointed by the experience. Felt really stressed when photos didnt come on. If Id known how little time you would get at Durham Crematorium for the funeral service , I would never have chosen to go there.

There is plenty of free parking available near the crematorium. The facilities are tasteful and the whole experience was well-run and as easy for the mourners as possible.

Excellent staff and the Chapel is lovely. However, I visited yesterday on the anniversary of my mams death and was disappointed with the condition of the grounds. 1) Neither of the water features were working. 2) A lot of litter around the obtrusive cages bins dotted around. 3) There is at least one bench that needs some repairs as it is broken 4) When cutting the hedges the off cuts have just been left dumped on the footpaths, likewise with the grass cuttings. 5) When trying to email using the address on the website with this information it refuses the delivery so needs attending to. Needless to say this spoilt my visit somewhat.

Massively let down by the parking. Not a single space available. Lots of grass and pavement parking as a result. Simple fix would be to turn some of the grassed area into bays. Queue for car park is currently around 9 cars. Someone is driving over pavement in order to exit without queuing.
