Went for Sunday lunch, waited 20 minutes at the bar to order, then over 2 hours before food came out. When it did eventually arrive, the vegan burger was chicken, and the roasts were not good. Overcooked rock solid beef paired with undercooked pork belly (supposed to be crackling). Waitress was apologetic but it's not their fault. Felt bad for the staff as it seemed understaffed for a bank holiday Sunday.

Service was extremely slow. Arrived at 2.00pm, received our main course at 3.30pm. We were a party of 4 and only 2 of us received our mains at this time. We finished ours just as the other 2 meals were brought out. We had a roast sunday dinner and ordered sides of cauliflower cheese that was cold and pigs in blankets that were undercooked. We then ordered desserts which again we waited for over half an hour for. All in all, the service was terrible, actually laughable by the end and the food wasnt of a great standard.

Always thought this place was great but not been in ages however arrived Sunday about 12:45 ordered by 1pm but had to wait ages for our Sunday roast and fish and chips! And it wasnt busy at all when we arrived. More arrived after and queues to get another drink were very slow, people stood queuing get a table too only looked like two young girls were on the floor. My partner enjoyed his roast but the fish was not good at all. Looking at past pictures of a decent size fish, its totally different now, small, thin fish with batter that did not taste nice and no taste to the fish hardly either I was very disappointed. Tartar sauce not in a pot like normal but poured on plate touching the chips, and quite thin not thick so was against many chips, Im not a fan of it therefore couldnt eat those chips. Sticky toffee pudding was delicious though!

A real shame. Such a nice pub but the service was unbelievably slow and we waited for 90 minutes for poor food, after spending 40 minutes getting a drink. Food came overcooked and undercooked, and some orders incorrect. Chips weren't cooked. Pork scratching was just uncooked fat. Beef was blackened and inedible. Our family member who was pregnant had to be sick in toilet because she'd not had any food for 2 hours. There is no way we would have paid for this up front had we known. No managerial input to solve the problems either or to say sorry. At least one waitress had the decency to say sorry. They need more waiting staff, a better cook and a manager who can actually do the job. At least tell people if you're understaffed, and tell them about the wait for food before they order. Go to the Eagle instead.

Great, spacious, airy pub. Staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. Atmosphere was lacklustre which matched the food. Very mediocre. Prices were competitive and acceptable. The beer garden looked great but the front looked very generic painted blue and white when really all that was needed was to keep it with original stonework unpainted to show the best of this period property. The service was cripplingly slow considering how quiet it was. I complained about some of my raw oven chips and wasn't offered even a partial refund.
