The Plough - Effingham

The Plough is our local, and we're only a few minute's walk away. We had dinner there last night and it was delicious, as usual. The atmosphere is very relaxed, the staff are friendly and welcoming, and the food is great. There's also draught Shere Drop, a massive selection of gins, and Ruby the dog! Update December 2022 - had a very enjoyable family Christmas dinner at The Plough. My third festive meal this year and by far the best food, service and atmosphere. I had the white onion soup followed by turkey with all the trimmings and sticky toffee pudding to finish. A very nice bottle of Fleurie made it even more special. Thanks to Pete and the team for making it so enjoyable. Update April 2023 - just had a delicious birthday lunch, yummy smoked haddock followed by apple and rhubarb crumble!

Another enjoyable quiz night attracted a full house. Enjoyed a tasty burger with great chips, one of the 'small plates' on offer. My preference for chunky chips accommodated without question.

Good drink selection, good food, friendly staff and a nice garden, shame it doesn't open earlier and close later on Sunday

We had a fab lunch at The Plough - great food, good selection of drinks and nice waiting staff. We sat in the garden after our meal for a drink which was lovely in the sun. Would definitely recommend and go again :)

Great selection of drinks on draught and lovely place to either sit inside or outside in sun, if you're lucky. Really enjoyed the toastie and chips for lunch - hit the spot. The staff behind the bar were really friendly and helpful. Easy parking. Only negative thing was that the onion rings were quite greasy so I didn't eat more than one. Everything else was great!
