Steve managed to do both: give me the best haircut ever and then also the very worst. His technique is not the issue, he knows how to cut hair. He's been doing it for a long time and trained with the best. I'm leaving this review as a warning to others. And as a way to deal with my frustration. Make sure he listens to you and don't make the mistake of trusting him blindly - just as I did. I'm not sure if it was arrogance or if he had a bad day - I asked him if he wanted to see the photo again of what I wanted (and which he did to perfection last time) and he said "No, it's ok, I know what I'm doing." He clearly didn't listen to me at all. I still wonder how he can misunderstand me saying "I loved what you did last time, I want exactly the same just a little bit shorter in the back but keep the length in the front". What I got was losing more than a whole year's worth of hair growth (back AND FRONT) and a high maintenance haircut when all I wanted was a trim of a very low maintenance cut. My hair was shoulder length and now it is too short in the back to even try hair extensions. I now have to spend fortunes on hair styling products and a long time in front of the mirror making a totally unsuitable hair cut look ok which I never asked for! He never even made sure that I want that much hair off, he just did it - and then he gave me a blow dry which I never asked for either. And tried to charge me for it as well. Needless to say, I lost all trust in hairdressers which will be a very big problem a few months down the line - short hair needs regular cuts. It will take me many many months to get over this ... Just returned from another appointment with Stephen at Options Hair in Edenbridge, Kent. Expertly trained, he produced another amazing cut so totally suitable for my curly hair. It is hard, almost impossible, to find a hairdresser who knows how to work with naturally curly hair but Stephen is probably the first hairdresser in over 40 years who I trust implicitly to let me leave the salon with great looking hair that will be easy for me to look after until my next appointment. Only once have I shown a picture of a style I liked, I wasn't even certain that cut would have suited me! I have always left Stephen to work wonders with my hair taking in to consideration my face shape, my body shape and how the style he will create will work for me and my lifestyle. All of this takes many years of attention to detail and experience to get right, Stephen ALWAYS gets it right. I have heard his consultations with other clients and I know I am treated no differently to any other client. Stephen has coloured my hair in the past and I have never been disappointed with the highlights.
