Awful experience. We agreed on a kitten, which later changed as the kitten could not be sold due to a health condition. Ron offered us a seal point kitten instead which we were originally after, travelled all the way from Bristol to Sheffield to see the kittens, fell in love with it instantly. Ron even asked us about the naming him etc. during that visit, so everything started to feel real. Long story short, 3 days before we were to travel to Sheffield again to pick the kitten up, Ron said the cat is no longer available because its a show quality kitten and he cant lose out on winning a show. We were heartbroken and could not believe it as we verbally agreed on everything already! He then offered us another cat which was already reserved by someone else (!). Anything for their personal gain, kept on changing their mind throughout. As soon as we decided that maybe we will have the other kitten he then said it was given to someone else as they have a long waiting list which we already knew someone had it reserved and since the beginning they were both saying there is no waiting list (couldnt even be honest, could you?) From what we have seen kittens were also fed the worst kind of food available on the market (4% actual meat content for kittens that need to grow - shocking) which is worrying and shows they dont really care that much about cats wellbeing. What they do care about is winning shows though and nothing else. Ron never even apologized, just said same thing happened to him when he was getting his first Birman - poor excuse for treating people with such cruelty, but clearly to him cats are just business items.I have waited a really long time before posting this review because I am aware that Mlyward is very popular within the Birman breeders community and felt worried it would stop us from getting kittens from other breeders registered with BCC. Thankfully we were put in touch with a wonderful lady from Boston and have two beautiful cats from her now. I think Ron in a way did us a favour as I would much rather have a pet from someone who cares rather than someone as insensitive and selfish as he is.

Being disappointed is an understatement, although flaky email communication should have been a warning sign, 70% of my questions were ignored, agreed to pick up kitten, but they gave him away to a relative the weekend before we agreed on collection and didn't even email me about it until I sent another email a week later as a reminder to answer my questions I previously sent...Not to mention being heartbroken. Doesn't deserve any stars. Never coming back or recommend to anyone.

It is so sad to read that other people have recently experienced the same heartbreak we had to go through with Mylward for our fist kitten. We had spoken to Ron at Mylward about our first Birman kitten, which with very limited and poor communication and very few images had our first kitten arranged. After a few weeks it became apparent that the kitten in question was not well, and was diagnosed with a heart murmur. We were offered 3 different kittens from the same litter, previously mentioned that they were going to members of family or even going to another person in waiting who "he had not heard from" for some time. By this time we had agreed on a seal boy, taken the trip up to see them and were delighted! He had even asked us for the name for it to be registered, to collect in a month or so time. Fast forward to THREE DAYS before we are due to pick our kitten up, we had bought a new house and made sure everything was "kitten ready" we even had a bowl made with his name on...only to recieve a TEXT MESSAGE that Ron had decided to keep the kitten for himself last minute because he was "show quality" coincidentally it was the same week that all the cat shows had announced they were reopening post covid. Heartbroken was an understatement, we had waited so long and had put so much trust in this person, to have the wool pulled over our eyes at the last moment, no guilt, no remorse, just business. Disgusting behaviour and not what I would expect from someone doing this "40 plus years" I dread to think the number of people they have tread on simply to do well in their shows but hey, they're just cats right? We followed up with the birman cat club and the gccf to lodge complaints against Mylward. But were told it was his right to change his mind last minute as he was insistent from the beginning they did not accept deposits. This clearly, is why. Unfortunately, Mylward carry a lot of weight in the Birman community, we were so scared that if we put a review out telling the truth and what we went through, it would become difficult for us to get the kittens we wanted and deserved. Two years on we have had a beautiful seal tabby girl called Jiji and a seal boy called Ori from ATAKAD birmans. We could not be happier with Theresa, and would urge you to contact her instead for your future pets (or Donna at Brofield who put us in touch initially) Ron, I hope you read this and know what you put us through. I'm sure you lack any basic feelings for people you do this to and are more focused on getting your titles in show. If I can urge just one person to stay away from you and your poor business practices then I consider this review a success.

After having a bad experience elsewhere i was SOOO happy with this cattery. After lockdown eased last year we went on a short break and brought my two cats here. ALL the staff were lovely and seemed like cat lovers and as well as the staff the cleanliness of the cattery was amazing. They asked about any special requests or requirements which was very thoughtful. When i picked them up there was a lovely man there that was taking care of them and telling me about how my cats had been which made me feel even better. My cats were well looked after so thank you!! Id recommend to anyone!
