My mother was physically abused in this home. The police and safeguarding investigations couldnt get to the bottom of who was responsible for all her bruising after the police taking statements. The safeguarding team assured me that regular checks from then on would be done but by then I had moved my mum out of there. To be fair a couple of the caring staff were really good but most were agency who did not have a clue about any of the residents.the manager Rachel just flannels you with stories about her Nan who used to live there if you go to her with a problem. Quite a lot of eye rolling from other staff if you asked for anything.

My Mother was in the Home for 2 years and for a lot of that time we were not happy,I can not fault the full time carer's at all did the very best they could with limited resources and i cant thank them enough for what they did for my Mother,But the Manager and the Owners are only interested in Profit and they seem to use a lot of agency staff who did not seem to know what there duties were which was so unfair on the full time staff sometimes there would only be 1 full time staff on left to manage 3 agency staff,We had numerous problems, IE. My mother not been giving her Meds,Panic button left on the other side of the room,Sat in food for a number of Hours,No running water in her room,He dentures went missing which was never rectified ,They even changed my Mother's Doctor's and chemist to a Clinic and Pharmacy to one in Blacburn without even consulting us and later we found out the Chemist was a family member,Also during Covid we asked many times not just for ourselves but for all visitors could they not build a makeshift seating area where we could sit with our loved ones with Perspex in between us every time the owner said we will review it in a couple of weeks but they never did they just went on about the cost but the amount of Gov grants care home's got during covid ,Instead we had to stand at a window in all conditions with my mother trying to hold a mobile phone to talk to us, The worse thing for us as a Family was that nothing was ever done to stimulate the residents like a sing song together or other little things organised for them,We thought long and hard about removing my mother from the Home but we and my Mum loved the carer's ,The cook's and the Handy man who all spent time with my Mother and made her laugh i will never be able to thank them enough and they go above and beyond with all the residents sometimes having to buy items for residents out of there own Pocket, ,But as for the Owner and Manager I have no time at all for them,If you are thinking of placing a loved one at Abbeydale then rest assured the Care's are Fantastic,The 5 star's are for the staff at Abbeydale,ZERO Stars for the Owner and the Manager,
