Unfortunately this is the worst letting agency my partner and I ever dealt with. We rented a one-bedroom flat from them in 2013 and immediately had a problem when our oven inexplicably exploded. Thankfully neither of us were in the room at the time but we would have been seriously injured if we had been. We were then treated to scaffolding going up all around the property and decorators peering in through the windows on a daily basis. We were told this would only be for a couple of weeks but it ended up going on for months. We didn't receive one apology. For nine months we paid our rent on time, every month, and never once caused an issue for Tom, his brother and their staff, however after leaving the property we received a very aggressive phone call informing us we would have to return to clean up the dust left on the shelves and remove the items left in the kitchen cupboards. When we moved into the property these items were already present in the cupboards, and the shelves were all filthy, so we left it exactly as we found it. All of our personal belongings were removed and we hoovered in every room, as we have with every property we've lived in. Despite explaining this we were subjected to a barrage of abuse and told we would have to pay for a professional cleaner to come and wipe down the shelves. We had already relocated to Surrey so we reluctantly paid another 60, if only to cut ties with them once and for all. I assume they just pocketed the cash and cleaned it themselves, which would've taken about five minutes. Unfortunately this company is run by a couple of nasty individuals with no sense of empathy. We were the perfect tenants yet were made to feel awful, not to mention unsafe. Reading the previous reviews I can see we're not the only ones to be on the wrong side of their unprofessionalism; in fact I can see there are a LOT who've been made to feel the same. Just be warned.

I've got a positive experience with Equity Residential. They were very customer oriented, supportive and responsive to all my questions and comments. The process went smoothly.

As a contractor for Equity we have been working with them for a number of years now. They are a highly professional company who act on their clients and tenants behalf, to sort any issues they may have with their property in a quick and efficient manner. I would highly recommend them as a letting agent for tenants and landlords.
