Best Western Lansdowne Hotel

A member of staff came in to my room while I was asleep. I checked in to the hotel around 4pm and then spent the evening in my room, and decided to sleep in the next morning as I was jetlagged after flying from New Zealand. Around 2pm I was abruptly awoken to a man standing inside my room, and he said that he was the Duty Manager. He told me that someone had been trying to phone me which was confusing as I did not ask for a wake up call, and I definitely hadn't heard the phone. He apologised for disturbing me and left the room, but the whole interaction left me shaken - for him to suddenly appear in my bedroom while I was asleep, even with my door being locked, made me feel extremely unsafe. I did not hear a phone call or a knock at the door, and knowing that he let himself in to the room without a valid reason resulted in me having a panic attack. I was travelling on my own from half way across the world, and I had assumed that staying in a hotel would be a safe and enjoyable experience. However I immediately checked out, as I did not feel safe to stay there any longer. I have been in contact with the Hotel owner for a month now, trying to get a refund for my stay, but my emails are being ignored. This hotel is unsafe, unprofessional, and I do not recommend staying here at all. Safety: A staff member entered my room while I was asleep, for no valid reason and without any warning. It is not safe in this hotel.

Nice place to stay in Eastbourne. A bit old fashioned but nice food, friendly and helpful staff. Great location near wish tower. Rooms: Comfortable rooms with sea view when requested. Old fashioned but nice.

My wife & me have just had a long w/end for my wifes birthday treat at the Lansdowne. We had a super time here. The Hotel was very clean, our sea view room was fantastic. The staff were friendly & polite, and above all the food was lovely. We cant thank you enough for a lovely stress free w/end, which was much needed. Regards, Mr & Mrs Marshall.
