What can I say? My sister Miriam aged was a legend. She had Down Syndrome and autism and was non verbal. She died of cancer on 9th March which seemed to come from nowhere and her time in hospital was very difficult time for the family who did not live near and for her support staff from her supported living accommodation where she had been for 30 years. We wanted the funeral to be personalised so chose to have the ceremony at Paynes own chapel. Paynes were so lovely and I would like to say thank you for being so understanding and accommodating in what was a most unusual funeral! A tribute to Miriam who would have wanted it no other way. It was as nice as it could possibly have been. Thank you so much.

Right from the start we knew that we had made the right choice with Payne and Sons. The care, compassion, consideration and empathy shown from Tara and Mark in the Eastbourne branch has been wonderful. Nothing has been too much trouble and the communication and support has been excellent. Our funeral service was in The Eastern Hall which is a beautiful, intimate room at Payne and Sons that was perfect for our needs. We honestly couldnt recommend Payne and Sons highly enough, especially Tara and Mark. A wonderful business with wonderful people.

My dear Mum passed away at the end of February. We had been recommended Payne and Son by a family friend, and we are so glad we had contacted them. At all times, they were courteous, respectful and sympathetic. Paul and Tara picked Mum up the morning of her passing, and we were able to liaise with them directly and consistently through the whole process of planning her funeral. Again, the day of the funeral, everything went smoothly and in exactly the way we had asked. And how they took care of Mum through all of this, we will be eternally grateful. Whilst I am aware they are part of a wider organisation, which I think most undertakers are now, Payne and Son really does retain the feel, and values, of a small, independent undertakers. (Some larger chains use centralised storage and preparation facilities - and we were very keen to avoid such chains at all costs - Mum stayed at their local branch until the day of the funeral, and we really did feel she was cared for well). For this reason, we really do recommend Payne and Son - in particular, Tara, Paul and Trevor.
