I can't recommend this GP surgery enough, I've never had an issue getting through on the phone lines. I find the engage consult service very efficient and easy to use. I have always been able to get an appointment when needed and all the staff are pleasant and professional.

I can't say anything about the Dr, BUT trying to get an appointment is nigh on impossible. I called to book appointment after 13mins at position 4 I hung up and rang the receptionist to explain I wanted to book appointment but no one was answering on the booking line, she said she couldn't book appointment I would have to call booking again. I felt she was being condescending when she then went on to say we are very busy, I said yes, but so am I. So I again rang booking I came in at position 6. 24 mins later I had reached position 4, I then sat at position 3 for 30mins and after a further 36mins at position 2. I then, after 1 hour and 30 mins hung up. What a terrible service. I was sent a message to make this telephone appointment yet I can't get through to make it.

The Lighthouse Medical Practice has some of the best GPs in town. This review covers both the Milfoil Drive and College Road Surgeries. They offer access to comprehensive and easy to understand online services - which have come in invaluable at times when I needed to relay on medical questions and/or updates for my medical record, without necessarily seeing a doctor face to face. These changes were implimented during the pandemic lockdown phases and have been very helpful. Originally these online services were accessible at any time of the day (which was helpful if I was experiencing mental health distress and needed to update my doctor in the evening, for example), however understandably the decision was made to amend this to only during surgery hours, which was likely due to statistics to help with their performance ratings, such as staff measure reaction times to inbound messages. The online resources include things such as repeat prescription requests which is very helpful indeed! Messages are read and if the doctor deems it necessary to have a phone conversation and/or request a visit, the surgery is responsive and will drop you a call, kick-starting the process to get an appointment. Therein is another positive aspect of this surgery - in that whatever method they are using to ensure appointments are available, they're working. It may not be possible to see someone on the day, but certainly the seem to have appointments allocated for call backs and/or non-urgent medical conversations within at least 1 week or so. I don't know if this is due to a rotational GP service, or if it's because they simply have more GPs available, but I've certainly been lucky to have consistently seen the same GP whenever I've needed to, with the exception of 1 or 2 others if my GP was not available. Reception attitude can still be sometimes aloof, with people showing up at the front door waiting some time to recieve human eye contact and therefore some kind of indication they've been noticed and asked to hold on a bit longer. A small smile or just a kind polite request can go a very long way. The process to minimise physical presence inside the surgery seems to be working, with there not being a sense of any overcrowding. Telephone conversations can be helpful when asked to send through a video or a photo of an ailment - again, making good use of the online services. All in all, I have been glad to continue recieving support through my surgery and hope that there is some peer to peer sharing of best practices between this surgery and others in the region.
