We visited this pub as we were staying locally and had read the amazing reviews. From the outside it doesnt look anything special but as soon as you open the door you feel genuinely welcomed. Super atmosphere, busy with locals and visitors alike. Staff very friendly and efficient plus the chef came and gave our dog a treat !! We went on a Thursday evening having not booked and thankfully there was a table. We were shown menus and told the specials on offer too . I had chicken stuffed with cranberry wrapped in bacon with seasonal vegetables, other half had steak & Stilton homemade pie with mash. Really delicious. For our desserts we had Apple & Blackberry Crumble with custard and a vanilla & caramel ice cream tart. The portion sizes are very good - you certainly know youve had a plentiful meal. We had a bottle of wine and a couple of soft drinks - it all came to 77 which I think was great value for what we received. We booked to return the next evening and the offerings where again excellent. I had steak with all the trimmings and husband has scampi . The landlady and all the staff made us feel welcome, it was great to hear the chat and laughter with barely a mobile phone in sight!! We will definitely return to this gem of a pub. Pity we werent staying longer as Sunday Roast sounded fabulous. Im very envious of residents who live permanently in this beautiful part of England - endless beaches, cafes & walks plus The Tudor Tavern to round off your day. Perfect .
