De Vere Horsley Estate

Booked as a family, noting to them we needed a cot. They put us on the first floor, no lift access, tight staircase. Not ideal with a toddler and a pram. The room temperature couldnt be regulated, noted by the fact there was mould everywhere. Worst part being the windows. The restaurant serves very sub-par food. Extremely salty, cheap products (tortilla chips are literally Aldi or Bookers) and it takes 40 minutes for food to appear. Vegetarian? Hope you like poor quality cheese and mushrooms! The breakfast is ABYSMAL. Tasteless, dry food. I tried to remain optimistic but even the porridge was made with water. We ended up having yogurt as its the only thing that was a controllable entity. The bread was as cheap as cheap could be and STALE. This visit was a special get away for my wifes 30th, I called and asked if I could arrange anything extra. Noting I wanted to pay for extras. Nothing offered or arranged, standard room snacks for De Vere not there - and reception said theyd send some up - never did. I wanted to have at least some champagne in the room for our arrival, offered to have it delivered by a third party, hotel said it couldnt be done. If you want a basic hotel which is slightly better than a Premier Inn, this hotel is ideal. Looking for a nice get away for a special occasion? Avoid. Im in two minds to completely write De Vere off from ever being used by myself or my company again. OH. As we were trying to get back to our room, there was a conference happening. Hundreds of people blocking the hallways, we had to walk outside around the building all because someone at the front desk stupidly told everyone to come through the reception instead of through the conference entrance. I mentioned all these issues at checkout, member of staff said a manager would be in touch. 5 days later, nothing.

We stayed 2 days in this hotel in room 723! What a disappointment! For the price paid it is not acceptable! The room is ok but not very big! The bedding is really bad, the spring mattress in very bad condition! The radiator of the room was very dirty ! The walls are in bad condition ! No brush to clean the toilet! The cleanliness of the bath was not acceptable and the bathroom door was broken! In short, do not book in this hotel!
