Greener Machines

Thought I'd try Greener Machines as they were local but sadly not a great experience for me. My chainsaw wouldn't idle so I took it in to see if they could resolve it. Had to wait over a week for them to look at it and when I picked it up they said they had cleaned the carburettor. They also tried to charge me for a new spark plug which I had already replaced the day before I took it in and had told them so. Got home and chainsaw still had same fault. Took it back for them to look at again. When I picked it up I asked what the problem was and the guy just shrugged his shoulders and said, "we cleaned it again". It seemed to work briefly when I fired it up in the shop but the first time I went to use it at home a couple of days later the same problem happened again. This time took it to Hugh Page in Heathfield who looked at it straight away while I was there. They found one broken part and one circlip missing completely from the carburettor. Not only did they tell me this but showed me the parts and how that missing clip would have caused the problem. Within 20 minutes it was all fixed and has worked perfectly ever since. And they charged me a lot less than Greener Machines did!! For me that better level of service is worth driving a few extra miles to get.

Took a chainsaw in for a service. As a local company I thought I would try them out as hadn't before. I have several saws and know about them generally. Staff were rude. Told it would be ready in a week and was still not ready after 2. Had chain sharpening and the chain was oversharpened to unusable. Problems with the chainsaw not identified or rectified. Saw didn't work on return. Tried to return saw to greener machines and they aggressively said it was caused by incorrect fuel which was nonsense. Took saw to another company where they serviced it (again) finding parts that needed replacing and replacing the chain with a new one. Was unable to get compensation from greener machines despite presenting them with all the evidence. Will NEVER be going back to them again.

Great machines, knowledgeable staff, great aftercare, good mechanics. All round Nice honest people.
