Great Community Pub with a big heart and great food.

Lovely food and atmosphere. The village have really made the most of this pub. Really friendly restaurant staff. Food portions are very generous and well priced.

We visited Sir Walter Raleigh on Thursday lunch time after a very pleasant walk from Budleigh. There was a light luncheon menu on offer as the new chef had only been there 2 days. However, there was one Mains dish available which I ordered. I got served with 2 perfectly cooked pork chops in a creamy green peppercorn sauce, perfect mashed potato, tender stemmed broccoli & char grilled shallots. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal & very much look forward to our next visit.

Now community owned and run this lovely village has rightly preserved the SWR. Cosy good choice of local brews beer and cider simple home food open fire in winter free parking down the lane opposite and easy to get to by bike or MBK off the common. Congratulations to the village
