Quirky Campers - Campervan Hire

We took Sylvester on our trip to Greenbelt Festival over the August Bank Holiday heat wave. He was really well behaved and also coped well in the heat. It was our first experience with this type of travel companion, we loved the quirky bits and appreciated the backup of Sylvesters dad Jon.

We hired Sylvester for 4 nights in April and had a wonderful time. It's a beautiful campervan that is somehow both very rustic,quirky and artistic, whilst also feeling really modern, secure and well-equipped. Perfect for first-timers like us. It's great to drive - very compact and mobile when on the road, but when you're parked up with the roof raised and awning out, there's tons of space torelax and stretch out. Managed to cook some great meals: 2 gas hobs and an optional electric hob, plus a removable copper sink basin made everything very easy. A lot of love and care has gone into this van from its owner Jon, a lovely guy who was really helpful sorting out a few things with the booking process and on hand to answer questions during the trip (plus kindly driving us - also a lost phone! - to and from the station).

Sylvester is simply gorgeous! You can tell that the van has been crafted and decorated with love and care. The van comes stocked with everything you might need and is a dream to drive. So many camper vans are functional, with plastic kettles and the like, but not Sylvester... the copper sink and kettle are beautiful and symbolise whats so special about this vehicle. And that is that its not a vehicle; its a home away from home. We took Sylvester to a campsite in Northampton for my cousins wedding celebrations. We would duck in to Sylvester during proceedings when it got a bit chilly and were so comfortable and toasty. The heating springs to life immediately. The only difficulty I had was not being able to return the bed to a seating position. This was user error on my part as Jon had told me how to do this, I had just forgotten. He responded to my text immediately and I was able to fix it myself. I fully intend to hire Sylvester again and would recommend others do too!
