Real mixed bag of emotions about our stay. On one hand, we loved our lodge and hot tub. However, the wood fired hot tubs take alot of time and effort to get warm so if you have to keep leaving the lodge, you've no chance of using it. Massages were excellent and the staff we dealt with friendly and helpful. They even let us check into our lodge early . However great the staff were though I'd say there's a lack of competency in management here, it's like they are trying to do so many different things to make money and just overselling what they can actually provide. So firstly, I'm not sure you can really call yourself a spa when you just have one treatment room and that's it. If we hadn't been able to check in early , the alternative was sitting in a bar area until we could go into our lodge. Secondly, we should have had afternoon tea and a continental breakfast as part of the package and then booked in for an evening meal. First the meal gets cancelled as the chef is sick. Staff give us a list of places we can drive to. Not great as we wanted to book somewhere we could just relax, now we have to find somewhere to eat and one of us has to drive so can't drink but ok people get sick we get that. Next, there's no food in for our afternoon tea. Now, we were given a bottle of prosecco and afternoon tea was paid for for us at a nearby cafe but again, we had to drive out to get it. You knew we were coming, so even though the chef is sick, if a local cafe can pull together some cakes and sandwiches with no notice what's going on here? Personally, had it been me, I'd have gone out and picked it up rather than have my customer drive out. Alot of the problem solving here relied on us going out of our way. We were told when we arrived that we could order a cooked breakfast the following morning. But again, no chef and apparently no one else capable of cooking a breakfast, which we were happy to pay for . The included continental breakfast was shocking. One small pastry each and some toast which was half burnt, half untoasted. Coco pops, cornflakes an some warm yoghurt with granola or grapes. Even some more fruit would have improved the offer.. Overall we had a lovely relaxing time, but only because we are the kind of people that make the best of the situation. I wouldnt say we got what was advertised, or what we paid for . Sadly, I wouldn't go back or reccomend going either which is a shame as it is a beautiful place with great potential.
