St Andrew Church is a beautiful church that dates back to the 12th century. The chancel has lots of interesting details including the 17th-century communion rail below the medieval wall paintings on the east chancel wall. There is a beautifully carved Flemish wooden sculpture, the Pieta, c1500-1510, that was also housed at Warwick Castle at one point. You will find St Andrew Church in the in the small village of Great Durnford close to the River Avon, not far from Salisbury. Great Durnford is a picturesque little village with some lovely thatched cottages, in Woodford, a civil parish in southern-central Wiltshire. As a keen cyclist I love cycling through the Woodfords and its lovely villages, with some nice pubs, along the river Avon, a beautiful ride, with lots of interesting things along the way.
