Helpful staff, lovely walks. Beware if cost to park a van (15). Plenty of free parking along the road.

We have recently been to a number of National Trust non house properties, and this is right up there with the best. Great open spaces, plenty of information preplanned walks and a cafe We arrived on the middle day of a bank holiday weekend, and at around noon, the car park was busy, but still places to park with ease. Quick check in to pay the parking fee (as a member it ensures that the attraction gets its centralised funding) and off for a quick coffee, the volunteers were being slightly overrun by the demand, but after a wait, we had 4 drinks a couple of scones and cakes. All fresh and tasted great. Next order of play was one of the marked walks, these are easy to follow and cover different terrains but are fairly easy even or the people who have some mobility issues. Once away for the coastguard hut, you could be be anywhere, most noise disappears, as do the people, (occasional people doing the walk in the opposite direction). This was a really good property and well worth a drive to get to.

Dunwich Heath and the Coastguard cottages are a hidden gem with birdlife in abundance being so close to Minsmere RSPB with heathland covered in heather and gorse to walk around and the beach a stones throw away. Highly recommended.
