Donnington Manor Hotel

Absolutely shocked at the greed of this hotel. We were told our room was ready and was empty but we would have to pay to have the key earlier. (1 hour earlier) we have a wedding all day and wont be back until late this evening so we wont even be in the room! The receptionist agreed that it was pure greed but stated its policy the hotel is full of wedding guests and its a disgrace they are pushing for even more money! Do not stay here

Afternoon tea was booked a fortnight in advance. Prior to booking, the allergy requirements of one of our party were specified - "One adult is nut and lactose intolerant, but only if these are in the food, not in the preparation or dining area, i.e. a bowl of barsnacks nearby will not trigger the allergy." The response, "No problem at all." In the light of this a reservation was made. On arrival no notification had been passed to the kitchen staff, so a fruit salad was hastily prepared, which was neither the afternoon tea paid for nor advertised. Dairy free butter substitute is freely available, as is dairy free milk; there is no excuse for this laxity which greatly detracted from the special family occasion. The dining area is spacious with windows overlooking the grounds, and completely empty during the time of our visit: we were seated in a dark corner furthest from the windows, albeit convenient for the toilets. The quality of the food was good, with the proviso that it was inedible for one of our party, so we paid for one afternoon tea serving which was not supplied as promised.
