Sunday lunch was absolutely banging! The location is in an old bank and grade II listed building so you can see some of the original fixtures in there. Steve the owner is fantastic, very chatty and friendly. Felt very welcome when we arrived. As for the food itself, we were very impressed. We both had the pork loin and the toddler had the chicken. All came with Steamed Seasonal Vegetables, Yorkshire Pudding, Sage & Onion Stuffing, Mash and Roast Potatoes. No messing with portion sizes, at 14 per portion it's well worth it. Will be back to try their famous brekkies soon too! Will update my review soon. Thank you Steve and team.

Just been for lunch, the food was an easy 10/10. Had the donny cheese steak sandwich. The steak was cooked perfectly and the chips were absolutely delicious. However, the customer service was very poor, especially from the younger members of staff. We sat down and was told she would come back and take our orders for drinks. 15 minutes later the same member of staff come back and asked if our order had been taken after knowing that it hadn't. The place wasn't busy at all so there really wasn't any excuses. We had to ask for the cutlery, hardly any drinks were available. I hate to complain because the food really was outstanding but it's the customer service that really makes the experience and unfortunately today that just wasn't there for me

I was really disappointed - I heard others complimenting the owner, but we felt almost an afterthought - there was a noisy bunch of 11 ladies at a 60th Birthday dinner. The young lady took our drinks order and our meal request. Twenty minutes later the food arrived (no drinks) A couple of minutes later a different server brought the drinks ( there were 2 of us and one was wrong) The server returned to the bar and we saw the new drink poured and left waiting to be brought - after 5 minutes I went to collect it. The beef that I ordered was cooked ok, but very chewy and difficult to cut - it got wrapped up to take home for the dogs. Veg was ok (mash had a "crust" as if it had sat on the plate for a while beneath a warmer) four pieces of roast carrot, 1 bit of parsnip, 3 Roast Spuds, lots of red cabbage, a (frozen, shop bought?) Yorkshire Pudding and a pot of gravy, my wife had chicken (similar veg) no stuffing and she said that it was "peppery" ..... All in all we left disappointed - during Covid Ste & the family Goose had delivered many a Sunday lunch home for us but this was our first venture to the town restaurant and we probably won't go back - I really wanted to like it, and to be fair the German Shepherd at home destroyed the beef.

So we booked in 6 people for the mother's day special and went on the Saturday. The food was ok and there was plenty of choice on the afternoon tea. But the service was lax. We asked three times for our tea and coffees and didn't receive our first one till the end of the meal. No soft drinks were available for our niece apart from apple or cranberry juice. We were told they were out of orange due to shots. Whatever that meant. Staff were sat around doing nothing but what we presumed was the manager was ran off her feet. Wouldn't go again in a hurry and make sure we have plenty of time next time as the service was bad.
