Anstey Mills Cottages

Stayed in the Thatched Cottage. Lovely and relaxing and very comfortable. Dog friendly enclosed sun deck and very well stocked kitchen equipment. Host always on hand if you need anything friendly but not intrusive and so welcoming. A real pleasure.

A beautiful peaceful place in North Devon - We stayed in the thatched cottage. Plenty of space for us and our dog. The terrace overlooking the private garden was perfect for afternoon tea. Plenty of walks and cycling from the cottage and interesting places to visit in the area. The cottage was well equipped. It felt very clean and safe which helped reassure us as this was the first time away from home staying overnight following COVID restrictions. We would highly recommending staying here

What a wonderful and peaceful place to stay. Doris is the perfect host. Friendly and helpful and always at hand. We are a family of 6 and had the best time in the perfectly equipped cottage. There is plenty of space for everyone and the enterior is lovely. Everything is clean and cosy. We loved the combined kitchen and living room. The kids could play in the big garden and there was much more to explore for them. Our days were packed with hiking and sightseeing and it was always a pleasure to come home to the cottage. We even went on a horseback ride through the national park and saw the Exmoor ponies. Our family dog Frau Mayer was recieved as kindly as we were. Dear Doris, thank you very much for the warm welcome with flowers and scones. We loved our holidays at Anstey Mills Cottages.

I am sure it would have been lovely, however, the owner had double booked the property and cancelled our booking at short notice. Although we had booked 2 months ago, we were only notified of the problem 3 days before we were due to arrive. This was during the school summer holidays, so as you might imagine it was impossible to find anything remotely similar in the same area. We ended up in a second rate B&B in a different location and our summer holiday was effectively ruined. The owner admitted her mistake (from using multiple booking sites) and our money has been confirmed as repayable, but that is little consolation to our one and only holiday ruined. I would recommend that bookers beware and suggest that if you do book, that you phone to confirm the booking and don't rely on website/email confirmations.
