Its a mixed review really. First its worth being clear we have stayed in a Wigwam through wigwam holidays before, so we had very high expectations. The lady who greeted us was lovely, the wigwam was clean and the outside area very spacious. It was nice that there was no extra charge for electric. We arrived very surprised to find there are no longer cooking facilities, which is not mentioned on Wigwam holidays website. Its not ideal showing up for a 5 night stay with a toddler to be told the only cooking facility was a toddler height microwave or an open fire. We were also put at the top of the hill with a toddler and on our first night there the outside area had been covered in chips of slate. My daughter actually fell off the picnic bench onto a sharp one of these our first night. When we returned on day two it had been gravelled over- although we hadn't said anything. There was a strange ledge at the front of the wigwam though which was essentially a dirt patch. The field is very bumpy and uneven, and the farm in general a bit unkempt- be careful driving down the access road as there are some very deep potholes. We couldnt go and see the sheep and the area was very overgrown. There was often a farm dog running around loose- which we found very surprising as it did state that dogs must be kept on a lead. I understand that its the farms dog, but at the same time, the dog actually came into the wigwam. I want to be fair. Penbugle has the potential to be great, and after Covid, and what must have been a tough year, it would be harsh to judge it too poorly. But perhaps it would be worth looking at making the previous communal areas into a common room, or games room etc and having a bit of a spruce up. We paid around 110 a night, whereas previously we have paid half that to stay at a wigwam site with twice the facilities. My comments will hopefully be taken constructively, as I belive this site could be so much more. The location is beautiful and my son loved it here.
