This dealership was auctioning a Jaguar XKR they had taken as a part ex . It was hosted through the Car & Classic Auction site. The car seemed to present well and we were particularly attracted to the description that the vehicle was corrosion free. Such a statement is pretty unequivocal. No doubt we and other bidders were attracted by that and thus the bidding was strong. We won and asked the dealer to have the car freshly MOTd. We were relaxed about any advisories that might emerge - play in wheel bearings, or bushes or links exhibiting wear - that sort of thing. What we did not expect was to learn the advisories related to corrosion covering the entire underside of the car! In other words the polar opposite of what the sales blurb stated. No apology was proffered and the explanation was to fudge responsibility by claiming the words were written by Car & Classic. This was simply not true. Moreover, the corrosion was passed off as minor, and that we should perhaps have anticipated some corrosion. As seriously experienced Classic Car owners we might have agreed, but we took the statement corrosion free as literal. Reputable dealer and all that. We have old cars that are corrosion free because one or two were treated from new whilst others have been fully treated as part of a restoration. Perhaps if an apology had been offered we would have put it down to one of those things but the dealer had to agree with Car & Classic to cancel the whole sale, and then compounded the disappointment by saying we could have first refusal on the car once it had been repaired! Wow! What an offer. Put simply, the car was hyped up inaccurately, and little or no diligence had been carried out to justify the cars alleged condition. But no humility from the owner. Had their been we would not have committed our complaint to a formal review. Short sighted and arrogant. So we had lots of hassle with the dealer and Car & Classic, no car, and a 100 lost in non refundable rail fares to collect it. Very poor.

Fantastic to go business with. Cars are smartly presented and the all round transaction was smooth and effortless. Kevin is a great chap, easy to talk to and very welcoming. Definitely 5 plus stars.
