Wagoners' Memorial

The waggoners memorial was erected after the end of the First World War about 1920. It commemorates the men of Sledmere who went to the war with their wagons and Horses to the front line in France to supply the soldiers. It's a fantastic memorial, although not very tall. It is covered with panels telling the story of the waggoners, almost like a comic book. By the side of the road amongst trees you hardly notice it, but it is well worth stopping and following the story from the top to the bottom.

Memorial to the 1,127 men of the Wagoners Reserve Corps who at the outset of the First World War were sent to units of the Army Service Corps and the Royal Engineers. It's a grade I listed monument of great quality and is intricately carved. There is an exhibition about the Wagoners in the close-by stables yard at Sledmere Hall. Graphic scenes in the memorial depicted the enemy.

(Translated by Google) In total, there is also a 2 monument right next to it, much larger, but I don't know why it is not marked yet. (Original) W sumie jest te 2 pomnik zaraz obok znacznie wikszy ale nie wiem czemu nie jest jeszcze oznaczony.
