Engine Room Cottage

Super cottage with everything you need for a break away. More like staying in a well cared for home than a rental cottage. Sledmere as a village is lovely, and the Engine Room is a wonderful place to stay with a group of friends who want a trip away. Three double bedrooms with three bathrooms, so perfect for a group of up to six. Open plan living space is lovely and perfect for lounging with your friends We will be back again and would certainly recommend others try it.

What an experience from start to finish. Catherine couldnt have been more hospitable every step of the way, from a lovely welcome package and card to checking we had arrived safely. If the service wasnt enough to encourage you to book the accommodation should be, its absolutely huge and with three bedrooms and three bathrooms perfect for friends or family looking to share. Within walking distance of Sledmere House which can be accessed for free using the pass the owner has kindly provided there is so much to do and see on the doorstep. The views are also spectacular. We loved our stay and are already planning our next visit.

We have visited Engine Room 6 times now, we always feel at home there, it has everything you need and more, plenty space to spend time together with family/friends, ideal for people with mobility issues (the reason we found it in the first place for my mum) comfortable beds, so clean and a well equipped kitchen, also a fantastically helpful host ( who will give a better deal if you book direct) Ideal location for visits to York, Bridlington, Scarborough etc as well as theme parks, eg Flamingo land and Lightwater valley! I would 100% recommend a stay at ER, I dont think theres anything that would disappoint. 10/10

Great place to stay. We used for our daughters wedding at Sledmere, just a perfect setting, fab communication with the host, everything we needed.
