Dover Channel Training

A summer spent with the most amazingly positive and inspiring people coupled with ideal swim training conditions in preparation for a channel swim.

We came as a group of 8 ready for 2 relays in 2023 and thoroughly enjoyed our training in Hythe. It was great to have the knowledge of the crew which gave us confidence in our swims. Thank you

I found DCT via a friend who was training to swim the English Channel and initially went to support that friend. Little did I know that less than 12 months later, I would (successfully) be taking on that same swim myself, with a J2F two weeks later. I live a fair way away - it's a 6 hour journey - but it was worth the travelling. The atmosphere on the beach is great and everyone is really supportive. There is a really powerful feelgood vibe. There is so much experience on the beach too among other swimmers, and you learn so much just from talking to others who have been there themselves. The main beach crew - Emma, Mandi and Paul - strike exactly the right balance between gently pushing you towards your full potential whilst not making you feel under pressure and, above all, keeping a good dose of fun in training. I honestly could not have done what I have done without them. I would 100% recommend DCT to anyone looking to do a marathon swim (or a relay) and I look forward to continuing to visit my new-found swimming family again soon :-)
