All our previous experiences at Dover Job Centre have been positive with people genuinely trying to look after us, but this afternoons experience was very poor, so it is with a heavy heart that I write this review. This afternoon we had a job centre appointment (which was changed by the JC relatively last minute from a previously more suitable appointment). Our Ukrainian Mum's bus did not turn up, so I then attempted to ring the job centre but could not get through. By the time I drove her to the Job centre we were 10 minutes late for the appointment. She added a note in her journal to inform them that she was running late. When we arrived at the JC we were treated poorly (the bus not turning up was outside of our control, but we were made to feel like naughty schoolchildren) and almost made to feel grateful that they still agreed to see us. In the end the appointment lasted barely 5 minutes with no real help offered regarding an issue with the national insurance number, this appointment could easily have been done over the phone. There was a distinct lack of care and support offered to her this afternoon, this lady is doing her best (putting in lots of hours learning English etc) after fleeing from her own country. Come on Dover Job Centre you can do better than this.
