Esquires Coffee

Esquires has really gone downhill so I have, regrettably, had to edit my review after several very disappointing visits. The cafe seems to have been left in the hands of very inexperienced teens with very little training or customer service skills. Our latest visit was much the same as the last few with staff not acknowledging customers, listening to headphones, talking and "playing" on phones while customers waited for service (while we were there, a group of 3 men left after waiting for a couple of minutes - in a very quiet cafe - while the staff stood and sat around, including sitting on the floor infront of the fridges, chatting) and most shocking of all was one member of staff serving (including going into the kitchen) in pink slippers! The food, coffe and cakes are still OK but the service and cleanliness has dropped drastically. 2 stars for the coffee, cakes and dog friendlyness but 3 stars lost, sadly due to the staff - or rather their lack of training/supervision. We will be back but not for a while and not as regularly as we were. My previous 5 star review from summer 2022: Lovely coffee, lovely food, excellent service and dog friendly. Nice atmosphere, calm and friendly staff, nice music, nice food. Very relaxing.
