Having been in the merchant navy for over 50 years the room in this establishment it was the same in the 70s when I used to stay in the seaman mission with the bar downstairs it would have been the right place for me in those days I was already booked in the premier Inn but decided to go down south from Edinburgh a day early so booked in this pub good place for contractors to meet up after work I did have a good sleep but room was very pokey to move around in never the less as It's ok if you fancy a drink in the bar then crash out if you don't want to drive boss is a nice guy as were the staff only thing don't go on 4 in a bed as they will slate your gaff but it's what you pay for I think the atmosphere in the bar would be good.

Sadly the pub trade entirely clashes with the accommodation which it seems is very much an afterthought... no soap/shampoo in the shower room was a good example of this but the main thing is the lack of sound insulation so you're basically in the pub at full volume when you're in the rooms, so sleep isn't very likely... until they close their primary focus downstairs. Loud music starts up again at 8.30 so no fear of a lie in either. The staff seemed friendly but again primary focus was downstairs.
