Askham Grove

Visited a friend recently. She wanted to go to the bathroom but had to wait nearly 30 minutes and we had to speak to someone 3 times before someone attended to her needs, even though 4 members of staff were sitting in coffee room drinking tea/coffee and were clearly visible to us. The time she had to wait was not acceptable.

This is a dreadful place and please do not send your loved ones here. They dont have any basic equipment and they have been reported to CQC for leaving 12 vulnerable residents without any care staff for over an hour. I can testify as I was there and my relative was calling for a commode & every residents room door was open & no one answered any bells and residents were shouting & it was bedlam. All the staff were downstairs for an hour having handover and the night carers verified this when they eventually appeared an hour later. My relative went very downhill. He could stand up when he went in but when he came out 2 weeks later he couldnt stand up. They neglected to give enough food & left him in a wheelchair 12-14 hours a day even though he was very fatigued. The manager Luke Cook should be fully investigated by CQC as he tried numerous times to prevent & hinder my relative from leaving the service and he was extremely unprofessional. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID Askham Grove.
