Dave did a fantastic job repurposing our scruffy courtyard. This involved a built in fireplace, bbq and log store. The floor was completely redone to complement the new surroundings and it has become a well loved and well used additional space.

David did an amazing job on both my front steps and rear ragstone wall .he is a master of his trade and I love the care he took with selection of reclaimed Victorian bricks ., the work is totally in keeping with my Property and undoubtedly has enhanced the look of my cottage . He is a great conversationalist and his knowledge of brick and stone work is a joy to behold , thank you very much I have no hesitation in recommending David and his team for any brick or stonework , you will not be disappointed .

Dave built a small brick base for an outdoor fireplace for me. We agreed on a Victorian train platform base but after visiting the reclamation yard he instead recommended a York Stone base and I went with his advice. Ultimately, it was too thin to have fire on it without support underneath. After the first fire it cracked in half. Dave was very apologetic and stated he had fabricated some stone sutures to repair it. He later stated the delay was as a result of changing tactic as he will use helical bars and a slate underlay to repair the stone. He also promised to return and finish the incomplete lime pointing that he neglected to finish. In essence, he promised to return within a week and it has been over a year with many excuses including Long Covid. He has even begun to mock my continuous attempts to communicate with him. Personally, I would avoid and cannot recommend a dishonest brickie in his latter years wanting a quick buck at all costs. He wanted half of the money early on in the project despite not paying for any materials (Dave was used for labour only) citing money problems. I then paid the remainder when he stated it was complete as I was not there. Bit silly really but I trusted him. When I pointed out the issues with the pointing on my inspection post-return he promised to pop along and finish it. Then after the crack, he made similar promises but clearly never had any intention to sort either. The structural builder I recently employed to rectify the issue (at more expense) could not believe a qualified stone mason would think it was suitable for fire or even attempt to leave the project in the way Dave did. After some research, I found out that Dave isn't qualified so be very cautious.

What a delightful craftsman Dave is. He has produced a wonderful terrace for us with a lot of care and attention to detail, making a special trip to select stone for the edging to fit with our chosen porcelain slabs. Watching Dave work we felt he was making a patio to last. He loves stonework, so choosing a sandstone edging enabled him to show his skill. Dave is a pleasure to know, he's easy going and easy to chat to. He does a considered and thoroughly professional job. We are very pleased with the end result and can fully recommend him.
