I havent written a critical review for a business before because I dont like the whole idea and I think it promotes frivolous complaints and moaning about small details, but now I feel I have to. This review is based on our own experience and our own opinions. I realise that other reviewers may well have had a totally different experience: The service provided by Elysium was poor overall. This is not a good way to run a business. Prior to the installation of our kitchen the service we received was extremely good so we felt very positive. During the installation workmen regularly turned up at ten or eleven am, sometimes after lunch, and we were constantly having to ask who was coming and when. On one occasion the tiler and electrician turned up on the same day and obviously couldnt work in the same space at the same time. The workmen were charming and friendly and we were friendly and as hospitable as we could be with a makeshift kitchen and a kettle, but they constantly groused to each other or on their phones about where they had to be and where theyd been sent and what they were doing. They did seem to keep getting sent to other jobs instead of ours. One gentleman in particular was truculent and felt quite at liberty to make negative comments about the job and our house and go on about the fact that he was leaving at a certain time regardless, as if he was doing us a favour by gracing us with his presence. The pendant light was installed in front of a cupboard door so that the door hit it when opened. The architraves and cornices were poorly aligned and the gaps filled with wax touch-up which soon fell out. One of the plinths was just standing loose and repeatedly fell underneath the units. The electrical supply inside the chimney of the extractor hood was left unsecured so that the wire and the switch-box fell down into the fan causing a terrible clatter. We arranged for the CDA engineer to come. He discovered the problem and advised that in his view this was either shoddy or perhaps forgetful workmanship. After about four months the freezer began to lean backwards and it appeared that the back feet had not been lowered to the ground to support the freezer. The steel plug-hole in the sink is off centre and slides around in its housing. The original plans showed the architrave running all the way across the tops of the units to the wall, instead there is a gap. The fridge door rubbed against the cupboard door next to it and this gradually became worse so that it began to squeak. Seven weeks after my initial e-mail Elysium sent a fitter to address five specific items I had asked them to rectify: The freezer, the plinth below it, the pendant light, the electrical supply falling into the extractor fan and the fridge door. They claimed that a fridge hinge had not been installed from the outset and that they would order an additional one. No hinge was forthcoming and no reply from Elysium either when I chased it up. Wren have now taken this on and sent a different fitter who informs me that the door was very badly installed, there are missing and broken screws, the bottom hinge was loose and the door has become warped. As a result Wren are sending a replacement door because the original is irretrievable. In the meantime it has been adjusted as best as can be and the feel of the door opening and shutting is now completely different. Elysium either dont reply to e-mail or if they do they reply tardily. The overall impression is of a lackadaisical job that took way longer than it need have done, poor organisation and management and a disregard for customer care. EDIT FEB 2020 - The fitter provided by Wren has advised that the reason the fridge door fouls the adjacent cupboard door is because the end wall is not true and that a filler panel should have been fitted, as per the original plan by Wren, and that the only proper remedy would be to remove and refit that whole wall of the kitchen, including re-tiling. This was the panel that Elysium told us was not required and had been supplied in error. DOWN-GRADED TO ONE STAR
