Great volunteer-run museum which centres on the former control tower which was restored in the late 70s. What's particularly good is that the museum does not glorify the destruction that the BG wrought on the Germans. The emphasis is on life at the airbase, with lots of memorabilia, uniforms and aircraft parts. Also a nice spacious reception area-cum-cafe selling hot drinks.

This museum is wonderful,so much to see,it looks very small from outside, but it is crammed with superb artefacts and stories from men who were stationed there. It is set in a peaceful rural setting, and when standing in the flight tower, you look out to where the runways were and imagine B17s leaving and returning from their missions, which is very evocative. The staff are great cheerful and friendly, they cant do enough plenty of local stories. This museum is worth a visit you wont be disappointed.
