Biggest challenge is that the 'Club' can't decide if it's a serious music venue, or a village dance hall. The raw material isn't great - soulless municipal function space with rows of tables looking like a down-market wedding. Ticket prices are very cheap as are drinks; on the one hand nice, but on the other, could contribute to the challenges faced. The Promoter always makes a valiant attempt to persuade members of the audience not to yack mindlessly during the sets, but 20% just don't get it. On the plus side the Promoter does a great job securing some excellent live acts - Billy Walton, Antonio Forcione, Thomas Atlas......However it's not long before the walking dead of Devizes are up on their feet squirming in front of the stage with their decades-old dance moves. Not only painful to behold, but distracting from enjoyment of the otherwise excellent sets. A pity. Could be so much more.
