Wessex Rose Hotel Boat

Weve just completed a 7 day River Thames cruise on the Wessex Rose Hotel Boat and its been an excellent, relaxing break. The board arrangements are all inclusive and there is a wide range of drinks and the meals, (breakfast, lunch, dinner, morning coffee with home made biscuits and afternoon tea with home made cakes) are excellent! The hosts and Wessex Rose owners, Karen and David are very attentive!

Returned from a fabulous cruise on this wonderful boat. What a way to see the English countryside at its best and to sample the delights of the English waterways. We have never ever been made as welcome anywhere as we were the moment we stepped onto the Wessex Rose, the accommodation was fabulous with luxury all the way through, our own en-suite and sumptuous beds. Every inch of this boat was just quality, it didn't need any explanation it just stares you in the face wherever you look. The food was amazing, created with flare and imagination and how meals of such quality can be prepared daily regardless of the work load in cruising the boat is simply staggering. David & Karen just took care of all our needs and absolutely nothing was too much trouble for them. We loved the knowledge and information about the waterways that they passed on and we just loved sitting on that wonderful top deck and watching the world go by. What an lovely amazing relaxing holiday and if there was a 6* Rating the Wessex Rose should still be awarded a 7. This was our second cruise and there will be many more we hope. John & Mary

Very small space for just six guests. Too small for groups of strangers. Difficult to have a conversation without talking as a group. Cabins better suited for couples, as very small & intimate: bathroom doors don't lock, or meet frames (saloon style) & are transparent. Windows very high for comfortable viewing of scenery. They class themselves as 5star so I would give them 3 out of 5 at that rating. I would also say overpriced for that very reason. The food was standard fare but tasty & well prepresented, although there is nothing 5 star about a tuna wrap!
