Li's Fish Bar

Over 20 years and still amazing food and value! Moved to Alvaston over 20 years ago and discovered this gem, the closest to proper Yorkshire Fish and Chips in Derby you will ever get! The battered Haddock is to die for and really reasonably priced too. The family is so friendly and they always recognise me and ask how I am doing (lovely!)... I don't get to visit o often as I moved to the city centre, then to the Belper area 15 years back... I still go out of my way to get my taste buds satisfied every once in a while (might even pop again today because as I'm writing this my mouth is salivating :) Top chippy, family owned and run - for over 20 years hands down the best chippy in Derby/Area. (and yes I also put this review on trip adviser as they 110% deserve the recognition for serving amazing food for such a long time!)

Li's Fish Bar is a hidden gem of a fish and chips take away that I am so glad I discovered. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with a warm welcome and excellent customer service. The staff at Li's Fish Bar were polite, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. The food at Li's Fish Bar is simply delicious. The fish and chips are cooked to perfection, with the fish being incredibly fresh and the batter perfectly crispy. The chips are also delicious and perfectly seasoned. The menu has a good variety of options, and everything is made to order, so it is always fresh and piping hot. The portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable for the high quality of the food. Li's Fish Bar offers excellent value for money. The prices are very affordable, and the quality of the food is exceptional. It is clear that a lot of care and attention goes into preparing each order, and the end result is truly outstanding. It is unfortunate to hear that Li's Fish Bar will be closing down, as it will be a huge loss to the community. However, I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for the excellent service and delicious food that I have enjoyed at this take away. I wish the staff all the best in their future endeavors. Li is an absolute legend and food was so good and cooked so fresh he cut up the potatoes and freshly fried them. Perfection.

Donner meat, spicy chicken and chips for 5.80, probably the best I've ever had, better donner meat and chicken than steves fish bar. Edit: I must reiterate how good the donner meat, spicy chicken and chips are. It has been almost a year since I left Derby and I'm still thinking about it. The donner meat was so thick juicy flavourful and succulent, I can't get over it, I'm dreaming about tasting it again. I dug deep and found pictures because there aren't enough pictures here. They don't do lis fish llace justice but in my youthful hubris I didn't slow down to take a nice picture. The bowl picture is day old leftovers. Ok I just saw that they have retired. I am very sad now. The country has lost the best damn donner meat, fish and chips it had...! I hope they enjoy their retirement, they deserve it.
