The Jackdaw Inn

For years my parents have stopped here for lunch on the way through to the coast. I have travelled from Australia to spend time with them as they are now 82 and 83. Both are not as able as they were - needing sticks and walkers to get about. My dad insisted that we pop in for lunch again as he loved this spot. Well, in all my time I have never experienced something like this. The place was almost empty, at around 12.30pm but apparently they had and I quote 'a group of 10' due any minute and they would not be able to even serve us a sandwich before 2pm. When I asked which table we could use for a drink, despite almost every table being empty, we were told we could not take one, not even until the group arrived. My parents who were struggling to stand at this point, could not even sit down. At this point, I really should have walked out but as they were quite happy to take our order, despite having no where to sit, they struggled outside to sit on a bench. Obviously and sadly for my dad, this put a very big damper on our day. Shame on you Jackdaw management.

Friendly staff plus a log burning fire nice setting to have a couple of pints

Woodburner, wooden floors, friendly staff, great atmosphere and good food and drink!
