The Boathouse

It saddens me to give a 2 star because realistically it was only the service which let us down. We had a booking for lunch and ordered 2 drinks and a deli lunch plus a ploughman's lunch..... one of the drinks came wrong which we didn't say anything about as it wasn't really that big a deal. However when my partners lunch turned up with the wrong item on it we made the server aware of the problem, she took the dish away and left me with mine. We also ordered another drink at this time. What felt like around 20/30 mins had passed she returned with the correct dish but no drinks. A further 15 mins had passed when I finally asked for the drinks and she apologised and managed to get us the missing beverages. The food was great, just really let down with the service, lack of care and attention to detail. I feel they should be more attentive to customers and would probably sell more in drinks etc if they upped their game. Hopefully this was a bad day and our next visit will be better

Parking: Parking is free but it's a popular spot so the spaces go quickly. Dietary restrictions: When my ol' Dutch pointed out that I was on a diet so should be restricting what I eat I clarified that, actually, I was on TWO diets because there's never enough food to satisfy my hunger on just one diet.

The food was good.. especially the deli selection. It arrived after not too long a wait. Nice atmosphere too and lovely views of the river if you sit outside. You have to queue to order at the counter and there was only one working toilet ..so lots of queuing there too ( not good as there were young children in our party) inadequate as the cafe was very busy.
