Following an appointment at the Maxillofacial clinic last week, whereby I was told that I was still entitled to NHS treatment, I emailed this dentist, asking whether they could carry out the required work as an NHS patient, on the advice of the Dr from the clinic.
I then received a phone call from the receptionist, Sharn, and she told me that Victoria wanted to have an appointment with me the following day and that she would be making a referral on my behalf, as a way around it, as they did not have the capacity to take on NHS patients there.
When I have arrived for my appointment today, I have then been told, by the dentist, that in fact, this isnt the case and that she had been contacted while off duty, by Sharn, and had not been made fully aware of my circumstances. The dentist also told me that I was no more entitled to NHS dental care than anyone else, because I had been given the all clear from cancer, just a few hours earlier, as if that good news was now being used against me. She also proceeded to tell me about how no one in Kent is taking on NHS patients and that she lost her job as a result of that, as if it were comparable to what I had been having to endure. This has resulted in me leaving my appointment today in floods of tears, feeling spoken down to and patronised.
To top it off, I then had to pay 40 for the pleasure.
