Whilst I absolutely cannot fault the care given by the staff at this home - they work tirelessly to ensure the needs of all residents are met fully - I regret they appear to be let down by the owners of the home and their lack of money. For example, the top floor corridor absolutely STINKS of urine, making visiting unpleasant when you have to hold your nose from the lift to your relatives room. All round cleanliness is mediocre - after a recent bout of D&V no deep cleaning appeared to be carried out (I wouldve thought this was normal procedure?) and the home was closed to visitors for well over a week. Further, when the home was closed, a small note was placed on the door causing inconvenience to visitors - surely a short phone call to every next of kin wouldnt have been too difficult? Often these elderly relatives have to arrange taxis or come on long bus journeys. The Manager, is incredibly hands off and the only time I ever saw her on the shop floor was when she was asking a relative to move their car. My father passed away during the night, a couple of weeks ago, yet not one member of staff has bothered to ring my mum to offer condolences. Id have thought that would be a general courtesy offered to everyones next of kin? During my fathers late stage of dementia he had a fall resulting in the need for medical attention. He was sent to the hospital without a carer I believe and was left on his own all day, probably without food or drink, resulting in him being incredibly upset upon his return. (I shall be investigating this issue separately with regard to safeguarding measures taken). The car park is a nightmare - which I can appreciate is not the homes fault but when my car was hit (500 worth of damage)I was told the CCTV wasnt working, which again caused me concern for the residents safeguarding. The food is of an excellent quality and cant be faulted. Again I can only reiterate how well and hard the staff work, and Ive never heard them be anything but kind to their residents but the lack of money is now telling and the management treating the residents as a business commodity shows. Relying on bank staff to cover the day to day running of the home (especially on a weekend) cant be good for continuity of care. In all the home is good but could be so much better. I dont know who the owners are (never seen them) but they seriously need to start putting more money into the pot.
