I visited the Trafford centre last Wednesday. I was very tired when I was approached by a girl offering to do my hair for free, I reluctantly agreed. Once sat down the girl started talking really quickly and didnt let me get a word in. She kept telling me that the straightener she was trying to sell me would be able to curl my hair and the curls would last for a week. Every time I shown any doubt, I was reminded about how she had just put a curl in my hair for free and any reason I could think of to try and get out of the situation was immediately dismissed. I was made to feel guilty and like I had no choice in whether or not to buy the product now I was sat down. In the end it was so stressful I gave in and bought the straighteners to get away. Im 200 out of pocket and feel very upset that I was targeted. Also the straighteners do not curl my hair as demonstrated, Im guessing the spray that was put into my hair when I sat down is what made the curls stay in place. I understand that the staff will get a % commission but exploiting people and forcing them into buying something they dont want through guilt and stress is unacceptable.

My elderly mother and father went to the Trafford Centre last week and came home traumatized. She explained to me that a lady from "PYT Hair" (if that's even a real company?) forced her to come over for a "free" hairstyle. During this free hairstyle, the sales rep spoke really fast and used terms that my mother didn't properly understand, and afterwards she felt that she was forced into buying one of their products. She reluctantly gave in, only because she wished to be left alone. My father was in another store at the time, and upon learning about what my mother had just been through he took her back to "PYT" for a refund on the hair straighteners that my mother did not want. The sales rep quickly turned rude and began to shout at an elderly couple. She used vile language towards them as she barked that they would not be allowed to return the item, which is the complete opposite as to what is stated on the receipt. The receipt claimed that a 14 day refund period was provided with the product. Obviously the straighteners were still sealed in the box as they'd only been purchased half an hour previously, however my parents were told they would not be allowed to get their refund, instead they were to send an email and await further instruction. An email was sent, however it bounced straight back and so the email address provided was obviously a fake one. I'm truly disgusted at the sales rep for scamming a vulnerable elderly lady and then using foul language towards her. My mother and father will not be returning to the Trafford Centre, nor will I be. I will also warn other people about this scam which lets down such an amazing shopping centre otherwise.
