We had an amazing two nights with Mary, Freya and Twiglet the dog at Wydemeet: Immaculate accommodation, outstanding food, a wonderful host, stunning location and the best riding we've ever experienced. We journeyed almost 50km over two days on the wonderful Diamond and Vegas. We navigated high moors and sheltered coombes, through pine forests and ancient woodland, crossed rivers and climbed cracky tors. The Dartmoor National Park is truly stunning and was brought to life by our guide, Julie, with myths and stories associated with the many locations; and Wydemeet is at the centre of it all in stunning isolation (but close enough to walk to the local pub!). The food was delicious and plentiful. My appetite for meat was more than satisfied by Mary's full-English breakfast and dinner of seared beef from the neighbouring farm, whilst my vegetarian Wife was similarly well catered for. Each ride was broken up by pit-stop lunches at local pubs, which was always welcome, especially with a local ale or glass of wine! And after a day in the saddle, Mary's post-ride tea and cake was so good! We highly recommend visiting Mary and the team for B&B, riding or both. The location of Wydemeet could occupy any couple or family for an extended stay of riding, walking, wild swimming, photography, painting and wildlife spotting. The area is so beautiful with a rich tapestry of history and mythology. We will return!
