I have had 2 surveys on 2 properties both carried out by Harrison and Johnson, they were completed very quickly and were very in-depth and i found there independent view extremely helpful, they identified some problems that i hadn't foreseen and helped me make an informed choice. I would recommend them and their professional service to people looking for a surveyor.

We bought a copy of a full structural survey that fHarrison had undertaken for the previous owner of a property we bought at auction. it cost us 1000 . This report turned out to be totally incorrect. A suggestion of subsidence turned out to be a historic occurrence of accidental damage to the structure - repaired, but not prettily. Harrison commissioned bore holes to be dug, whichdemonstrated poor sub-earth next to the foundation; thIs was resolved by fixing a down pipe and putting a drain hole in a boundary wall. Harrisons survey and the bore holes informed a a remote estimate for underpinning, which also formed part of the report ; the estimated cost of works- 35000; we got an independent company to provide advice and a quote. They made a full physical inspection of the property at no cost. Their response was that it would be fraudulent and unethical of them to suggest work as there was no evidence at all of subsidence. I had always thought of Harrisons with the highest of regard, but Ive obviously failed to take account of the reduction of expertise through the generations. My original use of Harrisons had been in the 70s and 80s. I am extremely irritated that Harrisons were paid not once, but twice, for an incompetent report! I also feel for the previous owners of the property who no doubt sold the property at a much lower price based on the findings of this professional opinion.
