Lovely venue, especially when the weather is nice. Indoor and outdoor space is very useful. Very well run by the function manager who definitely runs a slick operation, food was excellent.... family wedding was all the better for having the reception at The Boathouse..... thanks to all the staff!

What a marvellous venue - great food (carvery is spectacular), perfect location with panoramic views of Park and Lake, attentive staff and very reasonable prices. Only negative comment is poor access to the restaurant which is on an upper floor (2nd floor I think?) - No free parking near to the venue, No obvious direction sign to the restaurant (which is behind a very plain looking door), entry phone on door not answered quickly enough, once through the entry door no sign to the restaurant and can wander along a dead end corridor and enter store rooms, restaurant is on an upper floor accessed by steep narrow dark stairs - Needs a lift for the elderly and infirmed.

Went there following a funeral and the service was exceptional. Food was a buffet and very nice. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Sunday carvery, and our first time at the boathouse we had no idea what to expect. Starters came quickly after ordering. The squid was hot and well dressed, baked camembert well presented and tasty. However the salad was starting to turn and didn't look as appealing. The Salmon was well cooked and glazed, not dry. The carvery veg however was a little hit and miss. The roasties were delicious! But the yorkies were soggy and dry. Cauliflower cheese just wasn't rich enough and the carrots over cooked. The interior of the boathouse tries to impress, with it's twinkling tree canopies and fake foliage (selfies were on show). However most of the design aesthetic here is firmly fit for the 60s. If this place was refurbed, it has huge potential especially with the terrace. The staff are very friendly, smiling faces, can't fault them there. Good for those who want a traditional roast with no frills. Accessible entrance and lift.
