I pride myself on my appearance and ever since I was young I would receive complements about my skin tone and how clear my skin is. I entered this salon with a hat on, fully covering my hair from the bad weather. I was greeted by a woman and asked me how she could help. I explained that I would like my hair done. She looked at me as if I was wearing underwear on top of my head instead of a hat and replied we don't do black hair, black afro hair. I knew what she meant but was tempted to embarrass her by showimg her my non afro hair under my hat and reveling the total opposite of what she did not want to face. There're is no place for any kind of racism. I often get random people complements over the years from woman and men of all cultures but never this . I always have a smile on my face but that day I exited that salon with my first taste of racism!
