Disclaimer: I had high expectations going in. Atmosphere was cosy. Service was friendly and attentive. Nice soft and non alcoholic selection available which I always appreciate. To start I had the mackerel. I enjoyed it although I found it a bit under seasoned. As a main we shared a bouillabaisse which was fab and the veggie burger. Although the burger was delicious with a bit of a kick to it. The burger bun and sourdough accompanying the other main course were not fresh which was disappointing. Deserts were yummy.

2nd visit and still as good, 1st class service and food. One of the best places we've visited in North Yorkshire. Staff are excellent, customer service clearly a priority and that's the same for dogs....greeted with a biscuit and made to feel important. Great choice of drinks to suit everyone. Food top notch, Sunday lunch amazing not just run of the mill. Wait for the Yorkshire pudding surprise....no spoilers!! Everything is just a bit more special with so much effort. Can't wait to return again and again and again...

A good eatery, but left feeling disappointed about the bread. The good points first, fresh and seasonal menu, amazing waiting staff, well presented tasty food, really really good desserts. Onto the issues. While the restaurant is clean and comfortable it doesnt feel as premium as the food. My main issue was with the bread however. I ordered the bean burger and it arrived with stale bread. As a baker I look forward to the bread and this bap was at least 3 days old and should never be served. When our server asked about the food, I said it was delicious but was very disappointed with the bread (that I didnt eat). She said shed speak to the kitchen, but then never provided any feedback. When speaking to the owner at the end he dismissed this by saying it was because they toasted it. This is not ok, do not gaslight your customers! The sourdough bread for the bouillabaisse was also very stale. A good restaurant knows when not to serve food and change a menu, and it is never a good idea to gaslight your customers. Overall this left us a bit annoyed. I personally dont think this restaurant lives up to the hype, but it was still a very nice meal. I wouldnt return however, or recommend.

For me The Eskdale provided a service with a smile, an excellent choice of drinks, super friendly staff who couldn't do enough to make you feel welcome, and a menu that looked great. Unfortunately, although the starter and main were plated up nicely and the waitress gave a master chef delivery and explanation of the dish , they lacked flavour/seasoning to have that wow factor as described in the menu. This being said....I would happily visit again and would love to sample the Sunday lunch

Amazing place, beautiful scenery. Staff were friendly and professional, perfect table service. Had a 3 course meal, each dish was mouth watering and delicious. They looked awesome too. It's a unique place definitely worth a visit.
