We visited this coffee shop today, to find it was actually empty, really humid and stuffy, and the upholstered dining chairs were absolutely filthy! I've never been to an empty coffee shop before! Now I know why! The coffee was just about ok, but got to say, my worst ever coffee shop experience, and I go to many independent coffee shops!

Repeatedly seeing the tea room open sign by the roundabouts when passing at all different times of day, got some members together and headed here on a weekend for afternoon tea as offered. 2.50pm arrived to a lady telling us were closing now. This is still afternoon time? Not evening. The sign we were told is always out there saying tea room open even when its closed?!

I wouldnt come here again.. As my first time in Danbury, there wasnt much options of places to eat. Id walked in here in hope of having something for brunch, and seeing it attached and working aside the deli, expected decent dishes. The place looked run down. Im assuming it was suppose to be a vintage style tea room, but it needs a deep clean, some redecorating, love and attention. Dont get me wrong, the Lady was friendly who served me, but she was either busy doing something on her computer or round the back in the kitchen, having a conversation with another member of staff, loud enough for the few customers in the front to hear, about someone who was asking general questions about the place and probably wasnt satisfied either. I was close to just walking out without paying, but had the decency to pop my head round and ask to pay. So attention to customers is needed, checking to see if they need anything. I had eggs Benedict and a mocha. I wouldnt say the meal was worth 8.95. The eggs looked sad. Taste wise, it was okay but it wasnt wow. The presentation could of been much better, and again, not sure if its suppose to be vintage related, but just plain white plates would have been better. I know it was miserable outside which didnt help, but the lighting and brightness was dark. Cobwebs and rested dust on lights, overhead fan, windowsills and other places. Floor needed a good sweep and tables needed cleaning. It wasnt exactly busy so one of the ladies could have swept and cleaned the tables as soon as people left. Most of the chairs were stained, the wallpaper shows wear and tear, and the bathroom tiling looked unpleasant.
