Lovely old pub, everyone was raving on FB how good the Carvery is. Well what a disappointment, firstly I like an Ale plus to have a choice, there was only one option available. This surprised me with this pub thats trying to keep tradition. The eating area was a little cramped to say the least but a lovely open fire going but can get a little warm if you are on the table directly in front of the fire. My partner had the beef/ venison carvery and there wasnt much difference in taste, the roast potatoes were burnt, Yorkshire pudding was very soggy and the vegetables were overcooked. As for the gravy! Im not sure what the ingredients were but it had a funny aftertaste twang to it, it wasnt very nice. I had the beef/pork, again you couldnt tell the difference in meats. My potatoes were not burnt but they were not crisp, just soft and soggy. My vegetables were again overcooked and the gravy had the same twangy taste. We didnt have a dessert as we were put off. Overall a very disappointing experience and we wont be returning.
